About VESTEMA Music
My name is Gerrit A. Veenendaal (1958), an independent music producer based in the heart of the Netherlands.
After a long career built around creativity, technical and analytical work, and more than ten years of video production, I discovered that music had quietly become the place where all my skills came together.
What started as a personal curiosity grew into a dedicated studio practice. I compose original tracks, cinematic themes, music for bands and parties, atmospheric soundscapes, and custom pieces for projects of every scale. Whether it is a commercial, a short film, a brand identity or a personal creation, I focus on emotion, clarity and storytelling through sound.
My workflow blends traditional musical intuition with modern production tools such as Cubase, SpectraLayers and orchestration, alongside computer aided creative and production techniques. This allows me to work quickly and flexibly while maintaining close control over structure, arrangement and detail. Every piece I create starts from the same foundation: precision, curiosity and the desire to tell a story through music.
THE MIRROR CRACKS
My most ambitious project to date is THE MIRROR CRACKS, an original English-language psychological rock opera and musical theatre project about narcissism, power and the human need to be seen and heard.
The project initially began as a rock opera, but during the creative development process it gradually became clear that the concept had evolved beyond that original form. The music remains firmly rooted in rock opera, while the dramatic structure, characters, visual storytelling and theatrical progression have developed into something broader: a rock opera conceived within the framework of a full-scale musical theatre production.
Rather than telling the story of one narcissist, THE MIRROR CRACKS follows narcissistic behaviour as a spectrum. The journey begins with the completely natural need of a baby to be seen — “See Me” — and moves through family, school, relationships, friendship, work, status and political power. Along the way, the original need for recognition gradually changes into demands for validation, dependence, admiration, control and ultimately obedience.
The project currently consists of 18 musical components, forming approximately two hours of original demo material, together with lyrics, dramatic structure, visual concepts and an extensive Creative Development Document recording the evolution of the work.
THE MIRROR CRACKS has been developed as an English-language work from the outset and is now being prepared for its next professional phase in international musical theatre.
